Whooping cough cases increase

Your prescription may be telephoned to the practice.
Order at reception.

By post (a stamped self addressed envelope must be enclosed)

Prescriptions may be collected personally at reception after 4pm daily or sent to the Pharmacy of your choice. Please tell us the name of your preferred pharmacy when you order your prescription.

Please remember our telephone lines are very busy. To facilitate taking appointments in the mornings we would request that repeat prescriptions are ordered after 11:30am.

Repeat Prescriptions

Please give 48 hours notice for your repeat prescription.
Please give the name of your drug and the strength of it.
DO NOT ORDER YOUR PRESCRIPTION MORE THAN 7 DAYS BEFORE IT IS DUE.

Acute Prescriptions

The doctor will decide if a minor ailment requires a prescription. In some cases advice may be given or you may be asked to attend surgery.

All acute prescriptions ordered before 11am can be collected at 3pm on the same day and any acute prescriptions ordered after 11am will be ready at 5:30pm on the same day.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS charges

From 1 April 2009, the charges are:

Prescription (per item): £7.20
12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £104.00
3-month PPC: £28.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC. The charge for a single prescription item is £7.20, whereas a three month PPC will cost you £28.25 and a 12 month PPC £104.00.
